I knew all along, even before I signed up for the marathon, that this journey was going to be a long road of workouts and training; last Thursday, the training began. My plan at this point is to take some cardio type classes at the gym and couple those with a marathon training program (which program has yet to be determined).
Thursday was “Cardio Kickboxing” at the gym and while I’ve done some similar workouts before at home with a DVD, this was far more brutal. Brutal as it was, the workout was great and I can tell that it was a good choice. There’s a lot of things we do in the class that will help my core and hips become stronger which leads to better, more efficient running.
I’m looking forward to the months of training ahead, and all the pain that ensues.
